Is there a way for a user to set up a message that automatically expires? For example, it wouldn't expire the same time every day, the user could specify the time they wanted it to expire. Thanks for your help.

Not currently - it's on the roadmap and the plumbing for this is already in place - for instance to enable the alternate greeting the value you set is a date - if the date is in the future (or NULL) the greeting is activated, if the date is in the past it's disabled. The idea here is to allow the conversations to collect a date from the subscriber for when the greeting will turn itself off (i.e. an "I'm out of the office till xx/yy" type greeting).
It's on the list of conversation changes but the list is long and constantly being fiddled with. The best move you can make is to ping your account team to get your request into PERS to make sure this moves closer to the top of the list...
