Hi,
Is it possible to run XML service on Cisco IP Communcaitor, without a CallManager?
I have tried the CM Sim, it only work for the first time when I launch the IP Communicator. But afterward, the IP Communicator cannot be launched.
Any settings need to be take care of?

the CM simulator only supports 7960 and 7940 phones, all other phone types require a real CM (or CME).
So I'm afraid the answer to your first question is no. However, you can install a call manager on any W2K server.. in fact I'm about to set up a portable lab by installing CM4 on a virtual machine on my notebook.. that way I can run the IP communicator on my actual OS and show services to customers at any location.

Today I have played with the CM Sim, I can say that it works for the purpose of testing xml web service. Althought it is not fully functional, as least, you can set the service url in the 7970 by CM Sim.

Can you please give more details on how to do it?
I would like to develop an app for the 7970 using the CM Sim.

I am just using a Cisco IP Communicator, not 7970 Hardware. Anyway, here are my steps:
1. Install Cisco IPC, with all default settings (Network setting -> DHCP)
2. Open CM Sim
3. Config the default device properties ->service url
4. Open the IPC, set the TFTP server to the CM Sim
5. Click the service button in IPC, it will point to the service url as your specificed in the CM Sim

Where I can find or download this CM Simulator?

A stock W2K Server will do just fine, you just need to add a few registry keys to add, so that the CM installer thinks it's running on cisco certified hardware. Obviously, that hack means you're not eligible for support for that installation.. but we have three such CMs (all 4.01) installed in-house and they work just fine. The only problem I found is that certain ASP scripts refuse to cooperate as there seems to be a difference in javascript parsing in between an official installation and an inofficial one.

Thanks so much.
Anyway I can get this registry keys?
