What are the key differences between the 2.4.x versions and 3.1x versions and what is the advantage of upgrading?

First, TAC wont help with client issues if you're client version is not up to date with the server version.

as for the changes, the primary difference is some changes to the way the TRAP (telephone record and playback) connections are made and sustained and, of course, bug fixes along the way. There aren't any feature differences that I know of.

One other diffrence is that the 3.x version no longer installs the Print to Fax driver which used to be installed on Unity 2.4 client machines for Active Fax.

Since support for Active Fax was dropped in Unity 3.x., customers must use a third party fax integration with Unity.
