Hi,
I recovered a Cisco MCS 7816-i5 with the original 4gb of DDR3 ECC ram.
For my purpose, it's not enough, so I checked the data-sheet and I bought 4 modules of Hynix 4Gb registered PC3-10600 DDR3 1333-MHz dual-rank dimms.
The system worked flawlessy until I upgrade the dimms, but after that freeze at uefi starting.
I tried to install only slot 1 and slot 4, like the original configuration, but nothing change.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Danilo,
Did you get this figured out? I have a MCS7825 I5 and am unable to install additional memory.
Thanks

Hi,
After some attempt, I get a work around.
In my experience, this family of mainboard doesn't recognise high density memory modules, and don't bother searching and flashing the new firmware, nothing change.
Now, the problem is to find registered PC3-10600 DDR3 1333-MHz dual-rank dimms LOW density.
I solved lowering the total amount of RAM from the 16 Gb that I bought to 6 banks of low density 2 Gb dimms, for a total RAM of 12 Gb.
Hope it helps.

Danilo,
Thank you for the response on this. I will give this a try.
