The FEX is just an expansion (a remote linecard), the capability depends on the parent switch. The 5500/2000 combo supports it, but does not distinguish between IP, non-IP, registered, or unregistered multicast traffic. All multicast traffic is subject to a single-multicast storm control policer when configured.
