Dear all,
I have two router (A - 1.1.1.2, B - 1.1.1.3) connected between network 1 (1.1.1.0) and network 2 (2.2.2.0). I just want to know could I config a static on router A and backup static route at router B as below:
Router A config:
route static 2.2.2.0 255.255.255.0 1.1.1.2
route static 2.2.2.0 255.255.255.0 1.1.1.3 10
I add a distance value on second route, is it valid?
Thanks.

Hi,
the syntax is correct.
But the problem is if your router is able to detect that the primary static route is unavailable.
It's possible if primary route is via a serial port which goes down, e.g.
But it's impossible if both routes are via an ethernet port which remains up - your case, I suppose.

In my opinion. You'd better use dynmatic routing in the primary route instead of static route.
Because When the primary route is a static route, the primary interface line protocol must go down for the floating static route to be used.
Dynmatic routing is more flexible.
Regards.
