How many switches (i.e. Catalyst 3550-12T) can i interconnect using
1000Base-SX GBIC?

I don't quite understand your question. A GBIC is meant to be a point to point connection so if you have one GBIC in a switch you can connect one switch to it.
If this does not answer your question please restate it with the HW on both ends of your connection and someone will be able to answer this for you.

what i mean was, if i have have 14 3550-12T can i cascade them all by using 1000base-sx? with the gigastack gbic it's up to 9 switches only?

You can connect 14 switches together using 1000BaseSX GBICs, but see to that the STP root switch is somewhere in the middle. Our best practice recommendation is not have more than 7 hops from the root switch
