2 2621 routers connected via the Ethernet ports

I have 2 Cisco 2621 routers. Both have 1 serial interface and 2 Fastethernet interfaces. Router 1's config is as follows : S0 is our T1 to the internet, E1 is connected to a switch to the DMZ and E0 is connected to Router 2 (F.ethernet interface). Router 2's config is as follows : S0 is FrameRelay, E0 is connected to our LAN switch and E1 is connected to E0 on Router 1.

I've had 3 instances where traffic between the 2 routers (E0 (router 1) - E1 (router 2) stopped with no apparent errors. It's only happened 3 times (so far).

Has anyone else seen this

Need more info here, maybe its a routing issue?

Are you using a routing protocol? Which one?

Need to elaborate on the topology a little.

1. I guess the frame relay is a connection to one of your other offices. If you are running any routing protocol, it may be worth trying to just have a static route.

2. when indeed routing stops between r2 and r1, what does `sh int e?' on r2 and r1 show?

3. is the traffic between outside users and dz go uninterrupted when this happens?

Are both your routers running the same IOS version?
