Hi,
I am trying to configure a spam port using a 2950 switch.
eg. PC1 send a packet to PC2. I want PC3 to get a copy as well.
I understand that spam port is able to do the job.
My question is --- can PC3 still allow normal TCP/IP operation. eg allow others to ftp in or send out email.
Million thanks for an answer or work around.

Hi,
you can use port monitor command .For example if you want to monitor fa0/0 and fa0/1 from fa0/3.Use port monitor fastethernet 0/0,port monitor fastethernet 0/1 commands in fast ethernet 0/3.It will capture all the traffic flowing via fa0/0,fa0/.1.then you can use sniffer software or some other tool to get the packet details.
hope this will help
Regards
Kiruba

Currently, SPAN destination ports on 2950's cannot also function as normal switch ports. Hopefully a future IOS release will eliminate this restriction.
