I set up my 3550-24 switch with the EMI image. I created 2 VLANS, 192.168.0.1 and VLAN 2 at 192.168.1.1. I have a MS SQL server on the 1 VLAN and an MSSQLSERVER on VLAN 2. To get them to communicate I pointeded each SQL Server to each others gateway to communicate. What is the best practice for allowing certain IP addresses from 192.168.0.x to access servers on 192.168.1.x. I enabled IP ROUTING, but i think i would need to specify the protocol like RIP.

If you have both subnets directly connected and ip routing is enabeled (default) it should work, check with sh ip route to see if both subnets are known in the routing table.
