Hey all..

Quick one for you... I have seen this before, but a quick reboot always solves the problem.. just wondering as to why it happens...

This 3640 has 128Mb RAM (4 x 32Bit Dual Simms) and 16Mb flash running 12.2(4)T

Uptime is only 5weeks 5 days.. snmp is still working.. and router is still functioning... just strange...

Telnet into 3640...

Escape character is '^]'.

Im not really stressed about it, cause a quick reset clears it instantly.. just wondering whether anyone else had come across it ?

A faulty SIMM is not likely. Remember that they are accessed in pairs.

This looks more like a memory leak.

To check if this is indeed the cause, do a sh mem every day or so and check for a decreasing amount of available memory. = Free(b)

In case of a leak, the only solution is an IOS-upgrade.

Need to know how big the banner is.and what version of ios you have. Somehow router can't allocate the RAM memory to it..

Now do you see the free memory is degraded day by day on 3600??You can see that by using "sh mem free".
