3640 NAT

We're looking at putting a 3640 into into a network that will have about 2000 private IP'd workstations. There will be about 10 - 15 NAT overloaded IP's, and the 2000 private IP's will be broken down into ACL's to utilize these. Besides the NAT'd IP's there are about another 2000 - 2500 public IP's that will be routed through this router. Here is the router specs:

3640 w/ NM-1A-T3, NM-2E-2W

77824K/4096K bytes of memory

125K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory

16384K bytes of processor board System flash

Do you think that this router will be able to handle the routing of this network with the amount of NAT needed.

Just my opinion

You need to get atleast 3660 or one higher. I wasn't doing NAT but had 4 vlans configured on a 3640 with a fairly large routing table and had serious performace issues. Ended up going to a 3660 because of the better processor.

thanks
