If I have two 4503 switches and a supervisor engine III for each, can I run HSRP on the standard software or do I need to download any extra software?

Hello Chris,
you need at least the Basic L3 feature pack and version release 12.1(13)EW. Most likely you already have that loaded on your 4503.
