I am looking for a way to have my VLAN Interface track the same conditon as the physical port it is assigned to. So far everything I try (short of a config/shut) leaves the VLAN interface status up and up, I want it to report down so it will stop advertising a 0.0 route and allow a floating static in my bk-up facilty to advertise the default. Any ideas?

Due to auto-state an layer 3 interface will shut down if all layer 2 ports in the VLAN are down. THis includes trunks. So check to see if you have any trunk passing that VLAN.
Also, check if auto-state is disabled. It should be enabled by default
7AVEDS01> (enable) sh msfc
MSFC Auto port state: enabled
If it is, enable using "set msfcautostate enable "

Perfect...cleared that VLAN out of the advertised list of the trunk ports and it works exactly the way I want. Thanks..
