7206/6509/Worstation Route brain fade....

Hello,

I know this seems lame, but I can't find an answer. The situation is, in ficticious addrs:

7206 fe0:77.26.32.2

6509 sc0:77.26.50.5

Workstation:7.4.10.336

The workstation cannot ping the router. There are no vlans setup on the switch. What needs to happen on the router to allow the workstation to ping the fe0 interface on the router? The default g/w has been set on the workstation for fe0 on the router.

Thanks!

I think you may be looking for a feature called local area mobility. It allows an end station with a "foreign" IP address (not a member of the local subnet) to connect to the network. The command to enable this feature is ip mobile-arp. When this command is configured the router will recognize the ARP request from the visitor machine and will create a host entry in the routing table.
