8400 IGX Upgrade and Locked Processors and SNMP

Hi,

I am planning a network upgrade for an 8400 IGX network. The current software is 9.2.34 and we are upgrading to 9.3.42. At the moment i am trying to establish the possibility of keeping the secondary processors in "locked" state until all the network is upgraded (several days) and only when the debugging of the new version is done advance to full upgrade by unlocking the stanby processor.

By now i have found several potential problems:

- No standby available

- Statistics collection stopped for several days (migth be temporarilly started on a node basis)

- Potential problems in case of power outage (very rare but not impossible)

As a fact we are wiling to run these riscs if they are only theese.

Does anyone know if it is possible to keep the processors locked for so long, and wich is the impact of this?

By the way, we are collecting SNMP traps from the node to another station (not CWM) the question is: are the traps still being sent during the upgrade and do they reflect real values, since stats are turned off.

Tanks

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

If you register your upgrade here:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Software/FormManager/formgenerator.pl?pid=9&fid=407

You can get help on this from the WAN switching upgrades team.

Hope this helps,

Jorgen
