Adding comments in a "active" router configuration

I would like to know if someone knows how to add

comments in an "active" router configuration.

I know I can edit a configuration in a editor and

customize it to my liking, and then upload it to

the router.

Specifically what I would like to do is ... add a comment line above a command that starts with a "!".

Can the same be done on the CAT OS ?

The only freeform space I ever knew about is the "DESCRIPTION" command you can add to the INTERFACE sections. On the CatOS, I only know of the short space the SET PORT NAME command gives you.

If you aren't storing the comments on the device, but instead in a file on a server somewhere, you can use the "!" lines all you like. I'm sure you know that though!
