Can anybody tell me whether there is any mac address table associated with trunk ports and if so how it is populated.

And the behavior of the switches which are connected with giga stack in related to trunkink.

Hi,

the MAC address table is populated per-VLAN on the trunk.

Use sh mac-address-table int .... on IOS switch or sh cam dynamic .... on a CatOS switch. The output will show the proper VLAN for each MAC address.

AFAIK, there is nothing special regarding to GigaStack.

The only exception is loop-breaking algorithm use in the case of a stackk creating a loop. See http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/473/150.pdf for details.

There might be something special using the new 3750, the stacking is provided completely differently on them. See http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/si/casi/ps5023/prodlit/stkws_wp.pdf

Meaning is that even with gigastack, it behave like normal trunk link whch has mac table for separate vlans ?

In a normal truncked switched, if the destination mac found locally it wont forward frame through the trunk.

But to reach teamed network card which attached to 2 separate switches, we need to forward a frame through the trunk eventhough it found the destination locally.

I thought this can be achived with giga stack.(it state that gigastacked switches act as a single switch but they don't use this term when explaining truncked swiches)

But I might be missing something.

What kind of NIC teaming are you using in details?
