Are VTP Domains case sensitive

When configuring VTP domains, are they case sensitive? Do they all need to match exactly?

Example - vtpswitchdomain

VTPswitchDomain

Will either of those work for the domain or must they match exactly.

Yes, VTP management domain names are case-sensitive.

Yes, they need to match exactly, or else the switches bordering each other with different VTP domain names (as far as they're concerned) will each ignore the VTP announcements the other one makes.

VTP announcements happen on VLAN 1 on VLAN trunk ports. VLAN 1 is one of the default VLANs that cannot be pruned or cleared off a trunk.

Hope this helps.

If you are using any 2950's I strongly suggest you use VTP transparent.
