Hello,
Although this message seems obvious, it doesn't make any sense. Can anyone shed some light? The router is a 2811 with an 8-port modem card. I'm troubleshooting because the modem answers and drops the call almost immediately.

They should be showing up as lines and not modems. If you do a "show line" you should see an additional eight VTY lines. These are your "modem" lines. Here's a doc you may find useful.

Thanks for responding. I figured that out. But it turned out to be a carrier codec issue.
