Since it failed upgrade you need to follow  below document to recover

1. follow below documents :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-3850-series-switches/117552-technote-cat3850-00.html

https://community.cisco.com/t5/networking-documents/recovering-from-a-3850-boot-failure/ta-p/3136638

2. once you restore the image, make sure you read the release notes before you upgrade next time.

Thanks for answering.

I followed this document at the time of upgrading. transfer and installation was complete, then I typed "reload" command, I see boot fail screen with SYS LED blinking amber. I cant even get into ROMMON mode. BOOT_FAIL is all I get.

As suggested, nothing you can do now, if that is the conditione. time for RMA with TAC if you have contract.

That screenshot did not contain anything useful.

Reboot the switch and post the entire boot-up process.  We all want to see what is happening to the switch (other than the BOOT FAIL messages).

Thanks for answering.

Actually nothing is really happening to the switch. As soon I apply power to switch, that is the ONLY screen I get.

I cant even get into the ROMMON mode.

SYS LED is blinking amber and BOOT_FAIL screen on console. That is pretty much it.

Contact Cisco TAC and organize for an RMA.

Did you manage to get this resolved?

Are you experiencing this problem? If you connect to the console and power cycle do you get any console output?

Hi Richard,

Well it boots up and immediately it gives the error BOOT FAILED in the console output. And everything I see online is that it can't be fixed and that we need to log a RMA with TAC. I just hope someone has managed to fix it without a RMA case.

Is there any output to the console during the boot process? Or is the only output the boot fail message?

Create a new thread because this thread is dead since the OP is unwilling to provide any information.

Create a new thread and include the bootup process so we are able to determine what is going on.

I experienced the same issue. There are no output to provide. When you power on the switch, it shows "boot fail". That is it!

RMA the switch.
