Hello everyone,
I have a 6509 with Sup1A MSFC2. I have recently upgraded the MSFC's to 12.1(13)E14 but to acheive this I had to delete all the files from flash (including the bootldr file).
My question is what exactly does this file do and is it actually needed? I have search the web and Cisco's website and have found some info saying that this file is needed if we have Sup1A - but doesn't say why
thanks

MSFC2 does not neccessarily need a bootldr image. MSFC1 needed it in older IOS but in newer IOS it is not required as well.
If you wish, you can upgrade the MSFC2 bootflash to 32Mb(MSFC1 cannot be upgraded)
