Broadcom Netxtreme Gigabit NIC link fails after 24 hours

I have a customer that is trying to use the Broadcom Netxtreme Gigabit Ethernet NIC connected to various Cisco switches (2950T, 3550 24 etc) running at 100MBit/sec. When both the NIC and the switch are set to 100FD the link works for upto 2 days but then fails. The only way seems to set the link to auto but this can give unpredictable results. Does anyone have any experience with these cards?

Hi,

Is it on a blade chassis?

I have used many of these cards without any issues mainly to Catalyst 3750 and 6500 switches.

Have you got the latest firmware applied to your blade centre?

Paddy

Currently the customer has only tried these NICs to their access switches ie 2950Ts and 3550s.

Can you please tell me which servers you are using and also the FRU number for the cards.

Thanks,

Charbel, the info that I have from the customer is :-

This is a desktop issue with the Broadcom netxtreme gigabit 570x series

adaptor in the s51-31g thinkcenter desktop.

We are using windowas xp service pack 1 and driver version 7.44.0.0 we

get mrxsmb failures and netlogon problems where it appears the card has

not initialised when the user logs on.

Two of the Catalyst switches that these workstations are connected to are :-
