C2950-24 switch configuration?

We did not configure the spanning tree or trunking functions of our C2950-24 switches in the network. Currently we are facing intermittent network timeout issues, e.g. in printing and intranet access. Is this the possible result of not doing this configuration on the switches? How do we determine the root cause?

Spanning tree is enabled by default and you do not have to trunk unless you want to pass multiple VLANs. Can you post your configuration? If you have hosts(workstations, printers, servers) directly connected to switchports, make sure you have "switchport host" enabled under the interfaces

If a server is connected to the switch port and "switchport host" is not enabled, then what is the result or problem we will face with this connection?
