We have several c2950 connected to Alcatel OS7700 with 100BaseSX. Only VLAN 1, now routing enabled.
We got the following message:
13:16:15: %ETHCNTR-3-LOOP_BACK_DETECTED: Keepalive packet loop-back detected on GigabitEthernet0/1.
13:16:15: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: loopback error detected on Gi0/1, putting Gi0/1 in err-disable state
13:16:16: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet0/1, changed state to down
13:16:17: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface GigabitEthernet0/1, changed state to down
What is the keepalive packet?
Who is the sender?
How can I resolve this?
Greetings
Bernhard

To the best of my knowledge, disable keepalives by using the 'no keepalive' interface command. This will prevent the port from being err-disabled. For more information : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/netsol/ns340/ns394/ns74/ns149/networking_solutions_white_paper09186a00800b4249.shtml

Hello,
we disabled keepalives on the gig-fiber-ports!
It works fine! No error-disabled message now!
Thanks
