Dear all,

I am using RME 3.4 in windows platform. When I try to add a cat 2950 switch to be a inventory in RME 3.4, it said "not supported" in the telnet attributes. Therefore I can't do the neither configuration management nor software management on the 2950. Does anyone has the same experience before? And so, how to solve it? Thanks

Hi,

I am running RME 3.3 with IDUv1.0 and I have the same problem adding 2950 to inventory.

Elsie

Hi,

what is the sysObjectID of this device?

Check it with an mib browser, then you can goto Server Configuration->About the Server->Applications and Versions->Applications Installed->Inventory Manager and see if the sysObjectID of the above device are listed or not. If they is not listed, then RME does not support it.

Andrea.

Hello,

I am experiencing the same problem (well, nearly, most of our 2950G-24 switches are supported, but a few - with no identifiable difference - are not, and none of our 2950G-48 switches are supported), but it's been quite some time since you put down your post. Have you found a solution?

Thanks Anke

I got the problem solved, there's a device update for RME on CCO. The update was released around jan/feb.

Yes the patch is RME33.IDU.v1-0.win.exe I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Always make sure you apply the very latest Incremental Device Update (IDU) patches. IDUs are posted on Cisco.com every 90 days, and are incremental in nature, i.e. roll-in the previous IDU patch version.

The latest IDUs (version 3) are available for download at the following URL, and add support in RME and Campus Manager to the entire 2950 family:

RME 3.3 and 3.4: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-rme

Campus Manager 3.2: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-campus

IDU 3.0 was posted on Cisco.com on Jan 31, and IDU 4.0 will be available in exactly 3 months: April 30.

I have applied the latest IDU patches, but DFM does not recognising the 2950 switches. I only installed DFM after I had applied the patches - do I need to re-apply the patches?

What version of DFM IDU do you have installed? The current version is IDU 1.2.4 on DFM 1.2.

- The list of devices supported in DFM is at: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/dfm/dev_sup/dfm1_2.htm

- DFM IDU 1.2.4 is available at: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-dfm

Only the 2955S-12 (sysOID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.508) is unsupported in DFM, and that will be covered in a forthcoming IDU.

Feel free to contact me for more information.

Thanks,

Is there a IDU for Campus Manager 3.1 running with CD-One 4th ed. ?

Not applicable

No - CM IDUs were introduced from 5th edition - CM 3.2

Hi,

this seems to be a never ending story. We experienced a similar problem and have solved it by using the latest IDU package AND after upgrading the switch software to the LATEST release. Nevertheless the question if a particular 2950 series switch is supported or not depends on the exact switch type. The release notes of the IDU packages often are not accurate enough. Just open a case, deliver a "show tech" and ask CISCO's support team.

Thomas Schraml

Thomas,

I'm sorry to hear that. Can you please point us to examples where the IDU release notes were inaccurate? Appreciate your help,

Vipul

We are having similar problems with some of our 2950's. To respond to the previous question, the RME compataihttp://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2073/products_device_support_table09186a00800d6b80.html#68883bilty wep page for RM 3.4 IDU patch 3.0

We also have a few 2950's that are mis behaving that cannot be added to RME. Our investigation shows CPU goes up to 98 % during SNMP queries.

We have upgraded to IDU 3.0, IOS C2950 Version 12.1(9)EA1 to no avail, and reluctant to upgrade to IDU 4.0.

If CISCO-FLASH-MIB is included in the MIB walk on a Catalyst 2950 switch, the MIB walk halts in CISCO-FLASH-MIB.

The workaround is to remove CISCO-FLASH-MIB from the MIB walk.

Can anyone confirm that this is being done as part of the RME processes and if so how to remove it.
