cat 3550-12t and cat 5500

Hello,

We connected catalyst 3550-12t and catalyst 5500 using WS-G5484(1000BaseSX Gbic), but we are experiencing packet lost between these two devices.

We don't think it is a mechanical problem since there aren't any CRC or input errors.

Any comments, suggestions or recommandations would really appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Dong

PS.

On 3550-12t switch, speed nonegotiate is on, flowcontrol is off and UDLD is disable.

On 5500 switch, flowcontrol is off.

Thanks again

Dear Dong-lee,

Can you try to make the trunk between this & try.

regards,

S.P.Raj

I made the trunk between these two devices using encapsulation 802.1q but still no improvement.

Thank you

Dong

SInce you mention you do not see any port errors on the gig link, how did you determine you are experiencing packet loss? If you can paste the output of show port x/y from the 5500 and sh int gig 0/x from the 3550, it'll help

I ran ping(between these two devices) about 1000 times and lost packets averaged about 15 percent.

Correction. I ran ping to router(not point to point).

Our router is connected to cat5500 via gigbit uplink(WS-U5534). Cat3550-12t is connect to cat5500 via 9 ports gigbit module(WS-X5410)

Sorry for any confusion.

thanks

OK..To eliminate some variables, can you try pinging the sc0 interface of 5500 from the 3550. Also try a different port on the 9 port Gig blade
