I have 2 seperate networks i.e. Voice, Data
I want to give the certain workstations access to the Voice network.
Can a Cat3550 route between these networks?
if not do i need to get a router?

The cat3550 can route between vlans. See the following configuration guide. Also, your routing capabilities (eg, protocols) depends on the software you use SMI vs EMI.

You can route between VLAN's if you have a 3550 EMI. The SMI does not have all the layer 3 commands and features like the EMI.

Common misconception but not true. ALL 3550 switches are layer3 with routing capability. The EMI has more routing protocols.
