Hi there,

I am having an issue here with formatting this card. When I enter 'format slot0: bootflash:catxxx' (the catos file name),it starts formatting, but terminates with the following error:

All sectors will be erased, proceed (y/n) [n]? y

Enter volume id (up to 31 characters):

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Unknown device mfg id (5d.75.ffffffea)error = -1

Format device slot0 failed (unspecified error)Console> (enable)

Can anybody help me on this one, please?

Is this a 64M flash card? If so, do you have the required ROMMON 7.1(1)?

Paste outputs of sh mod and sh ver

Hi,

yes, there is the required ROMMON version.

Console> (enable) sh ver

yes, it is a 64MB flash card

Can you just issue a "format slot0:"

yes, I have tried this simple form, but it requires some volume ID and I have no idea where to get it from...all I have found was that it is accessible by issuing the command: show flash m/device: filesys I cannot type in 'show flash 1/slot0: filesys', since the memory card in slot0 is not recongnized yet...but without supplying the volume ID the formatting terminates. I really don;t know how to proceed...

You can just press enter when it asks for volume entry. If it still fails, I would suspect it to be a bad flash card

Actually, that was the very first thing I have tried and this is the output I have got:

Console> (enable) format slot0:

All sectors will be erased, proceed (y/n) [n]? y

Enter volume id (up to 31 characters):

Unknown device mfg id (5d.75.ffffffea)error = -1

Format device slot0 failed (unspecified error)Console> (enable)

That's why I went on to specify the CatOS, but it didn't help either.

My bad..(need more coffee:)

For 64M flash card, you need to use it as "disk0" instead of slot0: Can you try issuing"format disk0:"

Good idea, I'm gonna have one, too :)

I have tried it just yet, and the output is exactly the same as with the 'slot0:' command :( I have tried with as well as without specifying the bootflash image...
