Cat6509 enter into ROM monitor mode!

Good day, folks.

When I plug in a console cable to a Sup 2 engine on a Cat 6509, the screen shows I am in ROM monitor mode (rommon 1> )! And the switch load shot up to 30% instantly. A reboot was necessary by then. Online diagnostics test show the hardware was fine. I using IOS ver 12.1(E3)11b.

Did anyone experience this before?

It only happens when you plug the console cable ?

When it shows sup in rommon, does all the connectivity come down.

Seems to be some cosmetic issue. I will try to find some more info on this.

Yes, the connectivity did went "dead". And the switch load indicator would reflect "30%" instantly, which is abnormal.
