Does anyone have a good explanation of what causes a symbol error on an interface? I have a few switches that are getting these errors and can't find a good resource on what could be causing this issue.
Port CrcAlign-Err Dropped-Bad-Pkts Collisions Symbol-Err

Thanks

These errors are seen when the Mac sees "invalid" symbols. In most cases, this is a physical problem - Gbics, fiber, etc. These errors also increment when the link is not up because the Mac isn't syncronized and receives noise. show interface counters all stats are updated for a port only when it is linked up. The platform command displays all error stats and counts them even when link is not up.
