Catalyst Express 500 POE

I recently purchased the Catalyst Express 500. I want to use the POE to drive a LaserLink, but it wouldn't power the LaserLink up. The device requires pairs 1 (blue) to be +VCC and pairs 4 (brown) to be -VCC. However the 500 is not auto sensing this device.

Any ideas?

I assume that you have either have WS-CE500-24LC (4 ports of PoE) or WS-CE500-24PC (24 ports of PoE)

The PoE ports are 802.3af compliant ports, so unless

the LaserLink looks for something special, the PoE portion will not power it up, the connecting device must be 802.3af compliant.
