Channelized T1?

I have see the term "channelized" referring to T1 and T3 circuits. Can anyone tell me what "channelized" means and how it differs from unchannelized?

Would it accurate to then say that channelized is used primarily for voice and unchannelized for data?

I don't think so. For example, I usually use channelized E1 (Europe) for data.

In short a channelized T1, is one that has been broken into 24 time slots (channels). You could use 12 channels for voice and 11 for data. If the circuit is unchannelized, you will not have this option since the circuit is one whole unit.
