In a two-router network, separated by a T1 point to point on S0 of each router, there are a few IP devices/hosts off each E0 at each end but more importantly, a mission-critical async serial device on an async port at each router.
We must ensure the Async lines/interfaces get minimum 512k of the bandwidth of the WAN T1 to communicate with each other. The Ethernet/IP devices can have the remaining approx 1mb. Least amount of load on the router possible is desirable.
What's the right way to limit the Ethernet traffic?
Possible solutions:
GTS. I could use the source network number though not the source interface in the acl, though is this more load than CAR?
CAR would drop traffic over the 1mb, not desirable, but acceptable.
RSVP: This won't work on a tunnelled interface, right?
