Hello,
Is it possible to purchase any Cisco 3750 as a stand alone and not neccessarily buying it as a stack. i am looking to purchasing the 3750G-16TD (is it a layer 3 switch), or are all 3750 series layer3?
Thanks

Of course you can buy Cisco 3750 one at a time, the stack is an option...

Thanks FCS,
Does buying a layer 3 switch mean that you might/will not need a router afterall? Please educate me.
Thanks

It is layer 3 switch and it can be runn as a layer 2 access switch or a layer 3 routing switch , no external router is needed if you want to design it like that. If fact a router is not need in a lot of cases anymore unless you need serial interfaces .

Cisco 3750 can work as a router since of multilayer property. If this switch will be the cebter of your LAN, not a good idea directly connect the unprotected Internet uplink to this switch at Layer 3. The best is using a border router and firewall combination, and if you have multiple routeing capable swithces like 3750 you can do the internal routing with them....
