The problem you will have is if the link between the ABRs get broken and you are summarizing routes into area 0. Some routes may get blackholed (if one ABR is advertising a route under the summarized route that he no longer can get to).
Having 2 abr's is common as it adds redundancy and load balancing. Loops shouldn't be a problem.
