Constant Line protocol issues

Looking for ideas:

Our Lan to FW connection is giving us constant line protocol failures (approx 5 second outages) received by syslog ..

We have changed the cabling, patch ports (2 between switch & FW) port on Catalyst (4506 IOS12.2(18)EW1) and port on FW (Nokia IP550).

At this stage we've ran out of ideas on what we an do to resolve ....

Any help/ideas appreciated

Have you verified that the ports are in complete agreement about speed and duplex? The output of show port on the switch and whatever corresponding command on the Nokia might be helpful.

It also occurs to me that mismatch on keepalive (one side doing keepalive and the other not) can produce symptoms like this.

speed & duplex once of the first items we checked yes .. starting to think we've a cable fault somewhere affecting this connection .. and maybe more less sesitive equipment
