EIGRP

I am running eigrp on my network. Why my core switch (4500) takes least optimal path even though my primary link stays up but all hqs traffic start going through backup link which is 128 kb. My primary link is 45 mb. I did not see any eigrp log messages on my primary or backup routers. Only way i can redirect hqs traffic to use primary link is to shutdown backup link. Is there any bug on 4500 layer three switch

There are any number of reasons this could be occuring, but without a show ip route and show ip eigrp topology for some destination you would normally reach through both links, it's going to be hard to do more than guess. :-) My initial guess, however, would be that the bandwidth and delay settings on the two interfaces are the same, or are set lower on the 45MB link than the 128k link. This could occur if they are both serial links, with the default settings, possibly.

But, please, get the output of show ip route x.x.x.x, and show ip eigrp topology x.x.x.x, with x.x.x.x being some destination you would normally reach through the primary link first, then the backup link, and post it here.

There is an EIGRP delay bug that you may be hitting

Go to the router you think is suffering from it and do a sh ip EIGRP top x.x.x.x x.x.x.x and you will see the delay is not the proper delay , it will be getting the delay from the link with the higher and using that one. It usually hits when you have static routes configured and are redistributing
