Hi there guys
Guess what, I have messed up a switch again J
My only excuse is that I am a student heheheh
So here is what happened
I uploaded a config which must have some mistake on the line con 0
And now every time I get to the console prompt to ask me for the login and password I just can?t get to the prompt
It refreshes the banner motd and when I hit enter it just shows the banner motd, so I can?t ever get to the point of entering the login and password
This switch is not live so I can?t telnet into it.
I have two options
Delete the start up config or reset the switch to factory settings
I have looked online and I only came across this solution:
In rommon mode to enter confreg 0x2142 and then reload show by pass the startup config, I tried and it didn?t L
I tried it yesterday but it didn?t work L
Does any one have any knowledge or can dig up some documentation of how I cold undo this mess I did?
Thank you very much for you help in advance

ha okay
Do not initiate the break sequence until you see this message
00:00:03: %OIR-6-CONSOLE: Changing console ownership to route processor
i was just pressing break as soon as the device booted up
so i will try this again and will come back to you guys with the results
thanks for your help bosalaza

if this is Native you need to set the confreg to 0x2142 of the RP, that mean you have to wait until you see "OIR-6-CONSOLE: Changing console ownership to route processor" and then do your ctrl+brk to put the RP in rommon, this is where you set the 0x2142. YOu might have been setting the confreg of the SP in which case it will not work since the running -configuration is in the RP.
Here is the step-by-step procedure of what I mentioned above:

i dont know what the acrynm for SP means
but i have tried both confreg 0x2142
and then i typed reset and it still booted with the startup config and then i tried confreg 0x2102 and then typed reset and it rebooted again using my start up config
is there any way to actually delete that damn start up config from NVRAM ?
is there any other way to bypass that configuration?
what am i doing wrong i followed the instructions and it didnt work :(

Please go through that link I included in previous post on this thread. I believe it will help since you are not sure which processor you are changing confreg on. The sup720 have two processors, the switch processor (sp) and the route processor (rp). If you are changing the confreg to 0x2142 of the sp naturally, it will not ignore the start-up configuration (2142 means ignore the start-up config). This is because you are changing the config-register of the SP and NOT the RP.
Please go through this step-by-step procedure what I am talking about SP and RP above will make sense:
Pay special attention on step 5.

as long as i get to rommon mode i can follow the documentation or is it important how i get there?
because as the system boots i start hitting ctrl+break
does it matter where i press this?
