Error messages seen on Cat6509

I'm having trouble working out what two messages that came up on one of our Cat6509's mean:

2005 Apr 03 08:52:43 bst +01:00 %SYS-4-NVLOG:sys_check_nvram_blocks:Block 59 restored from NS. 0xBE002A48(0x9004), 0xBE004EC5(0x1)

2005 Apr 03 08:52:43 bst +01:00 %SYS-1-CFG_RESTORE:Rmon block restored from backup

I can't find anything on CCO for the first message and the second message indicates that the configuration block has been restored from backup. [chars] is the block type that can be modified by the user or the process.

I feel it's probably nothing to worry about, just some informational messages, but I was wondering if anyone has seen these before and whether any action needs to be taken?

Thanks

I guess the message is generated by an NVRAM monitoring feature. it basically reports that there was a corrupted block in NVRAM and the configuration was restored.

The checking for corrupted blocks in NVRAM is performed by default and if a block is found to be corrupted it will be restored by the copy of it that is in DRAM, and therefore the configuration was not lost.

The error message is not an indication of a critical problem. Since CatOS 7.5, we added the nvram-monitor feature to recover from nvram block corruption. You can see more details on this link (might need to CTRL+F to find it):

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_system_message_guide_chapter09186a0080123d60.html#wp1284086

The messages are for your information only. A corrupted block in NVRAM was identified and restored. The NVRAM is checked on an hourly basis for corrupted blocks. If one is found, it will be restored by a copy of it in DRAM to ensure that the configuration is not lost. Most likely this is a one-time occurance. Notice that in your meesage, CatOS was able to restore the block.

Should there be a real problem you would see a message like this one:

2002 Sep 17 10:20:28 %SYS-4-NVLOG:sys_check_nvram_blocks:Block 0 checksum failed:

0xDEAD(0xB6A3)

2002 Sep 17 10:20:28 %SYS-1-CFG_CSFAIL:Global block checksum failed

2002 Sep 17 10:20:28 %SYS-4-NVLOG:sys_check_nvram_blocks:Failed to restore block 0 from NS
