Hi,
Is it possible to setup an etherchannel on a Cisco 2950 and an HP Proliant DL360 (W2K3)?
Teaming is set up as SLB and balance with the mac address.
On the cisco i created an interface port-channel 1
and putted the 2 interfaces in channel-group 1 mode desirable.
I can see the etherchannel on the cisco but the status is down.

Change the channel mode to "on" instead of desirable using "channel-group 1 mode on" under both physical interfaces

Ok. Thanks al lot.
Do you have a doc that describes this ?
I assumed i had to balance with the mac address because of the layer 2 etherchannel but i changed it to ip-address and it works also.
Is this because the Transmit Load Balancing is done by the HP software ? and the Receive Load Balancing is done by the switch. Correct ?
I have to replace a 3524XML swith with a 2950.
The 3524XML had 11 etherchannels - will i be limited to 6 etherchannels on the 2950.
Thanks,
Kristine

You would use desirable mode only if both link partners support PAGP. The following page should help

CAT2950 supports maximum of 6 ether-channels with eight ports per EtherChannel.
