Examine Dropped Packets

Is there a way to redirect or capture the packets that are dropped by the switch so i could examine them?

Yeah, you can use a sniffer or a Etherreal tool to capture the packets and find the reason for the packets being dropped. Even SPAN(Switch Port Analyser) will help you for that matter.

How will i know that a certain packet that was forwarded to the SPAN port will be dropped by the device. As far as i know, on a SPAN session, packets are forwarded to the SPAN destination port prior to being processed by the device.

There's no way that I'm aware of to view packets that are dropped by a switch.
