Hi,
I have a problem with the broadcast on my dual core 6509 network.
5 servers are sending huge broadcast on Vlan 100 causing the core HSRP flip quite frequently. What it does is the broadcast causing a lot of input queue drops on the core interface vlan 100 and eventually the HSRP active core flips to standby because of unable to send hello message to the standby.
Please advise.

Hello,
are these broadcasts necessary for the operation of your servers ? If you use Cisco IOS on your 6509, you could use the command:
broadcast suppression x
or the command:
storm-control level x (which replaces the broadcast suppression command)
on your VLAN interfaces to limit the amount fo bandwidth consumed by broadcasts.
For CatOS, the equivalent command is:
set port broadcast mod/port threshold% [violation {drop-packets | errdisable}]
[multicast {enable | disable}] [unicast {enable | disable}]
HTH,
GP
