Excessive collisions on ethernet interfaces- MC3810 to PIX 515

Have been noticing "excessive" collisions on ethernet interface on the MC 3810 and the on the PIX's outside interface. These are directly connected to one another via a 2 ft cable.

When traffic is going across this link, collisions register on both interfaces at around 2-3 every 5-6 seconds.

MC3810 has no speed/duplex settings on its E0 interface-- always 10bt

PIX 515 has E0 hard set to 10m half.

Tried new cable- same

Tried auto setting on PIX--same

Thoughts ?

Since you say you can´t change the 3810 side, try to set the Pix side to 10 Mb full duplex, since if you force the interfaces and they have not the same rate

you will get collisions.....
