Our site is currently singled homed on the internet. We're adding another home and would like to automatically fail-over from one ISP's connection to another as needed. What do we need to do to support this?
You need to run BGP with both ISP's. In order to do this you will want to register an AS # with Arin www.arin.net. You will then need to setup BGP peering with both carriers. ISP's tend to differ in the steps they require for establishing a BGP peering session so you will want to check with them first on how to do that. If you do not have any experience with this you will likely want to get some help from someone who has done it before. Take a look at the following white paper for more information on BGP.
