Flash memory for the first time in a 3660 router

Can I install a SIMM MEM3660-2X32FS= (flash memory)in slot 0 (bank 0) of a mainboard (3660 router) or is it only intended for making upgrades..?..I mean, can I install it and make a xmodem to download the IOS on it, or must I add it to an existing configuration (i.e. a 32Mb Flash) in bank 1 and upgrade the total flash to 64 Mb..?..Ive tried the first option twice and in rommon > always appears the message "device does not contain a valid magic number"

I haven't read the document myself, but it does at least answer your first question. Table 7 says that one 32M SIMM is not a valid combination.
