Full T1 /' Frac. T1 - Speed / Bandwidth Qeustion

Hello,

I was checking the utilization stats. for a location with a full T1. During a one month period, they peak on three days at about 400 KBPS..the rest of the days peak at about 280 KBPS. It looks to me like I could get away with a 12 channel T1 line . If I cut the T1 in half(24 to 12 channels)....is the speed halved and the max. traffic (highest peak) is 768 KBPS? If anyone can clear this up or point me to a good reference, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

The bandwidth is halved, but the delay across the circuit should be about the same, I would think, since the actual clockrate doesn't change, just the points in the clock cycle where you can insert data.

Do it!! If your CIR is 768, you can still burst over that.

Your speed will stay the same, the amount of data that you send at one time will decrease. It does not look like you need the 1.5mb.

You can save some money this way.
