GBIC and Etherchannel

I have a Catalyst 3548 switch with to GBICs (WS-G5483) inserted. I have two questions:

1. Can the GBIC be used to connect directly to a server with a gigabit NIC?

2. Can I use Etherchannel with these two GBICs to connect to my server with two gigabit NICs teamed?

Many thanks

Mark

Hello Mark,

AFAIK, the answer is yes to both questions. Check the GBIC product page, it also tells you the cabling requirements:

Cisco 1000BaseT Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC)
