my cisco 1720 router has died on me and i'm looking to replace it. the key features i need are NAT with port redirection (forward an outside port to a different inside port, e.g. outside port X to inside port Y) and traffic-shaping. I need to be able to restrict outbound traffic to a certain k/sec for everything but port 23. it seems from the documents that the soho 91 will do this, but i can't find a clear answer about the traffic shaping. i am also interested in LLQ (low latency queing), will it do that? if not, what is the lowest series/model that i need to get?
thanks,
matt

Here is the data sheet on the Soho91.

As far as specific features go looking through the release notes on the software will tell you. It looks like you can do LLQ. Its in the Advanced Router Configuration section.

couldn't have just answered my question? heh
i already read those and couldn't find a straight answer. ciscos docuemnts are so convulted. the first link says "Quality of Service (QoS) ... and constant bit rate (CBR) with per-VC queuing and traffic shaping". but is that only traffic shaping with whatever 'constant bit rate with per-VC queuing' is? it does it support CBR and traffic shaping indepentently?
then under your second link about the LLQ it seems that it is only supported by certain routers, even though the document title is also for the soho 91--
"Low-Latency Queuing (LLQ) provides a low-latency, strict-priority transmit queue for Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. LLQ is supported on the following routers:
Cisco 826 and Cisco 836
Cisco 827, Cisco 827H, Cisco 827-4V, Cisco 831, and Cisco 837
Cisco 828"
also in that document for traffic shaping it says--
"Configuring Class-Based Traffic Shaping to Support Low Latency Queuing
Class-based traffic shaping (CBTS) is supported on the Cisco 831 router. "
... so does that mean you can only do it on the 831? if that's not what that means then what does the sentance mean?

Yes I agree with the lack of specific's in the doc's some times. If you call Cisco's pre sales they might be able to give you a direct answer, or TAC.
