Gigabit over fibre on a 3524 switch

I am about to embark on connecting a single gigabit over fibre connection from a 3524XL switch to a 5505 switch. Do I need a specific spanning tree vlan cost, or is this irrelevant with a single connection?

You don't need it for single connection.

Even if you connect multiple connections, default cost would take care for different media types (fastethernet/Gigabit)
